Terms and obligations of VeriFactu

The VeriFactu Regulation (RD 1007/2023, developed by Order HAC/2026) requires that all billing software generate unalterable records with chained hashes and communicate them to the AEAT. Although the entry into force has been delayed to July 2027, software manufacturers must be certified before that date and companies need time to migrate, test and train their team. Preparing now avoids last-minute rush and possible penalties of up to 50,000 euros for using non-compliant software.

  • Mandatory for all self-employed workers and companies that issue invoices in Spanish territory
  • Deadline July 2027: the software must generate electronically signed records and communicate them to the Treasury
  • Penalty of up to 50,000 euros for each year in which a non-certified program is used
  • Odoo already includes the native VeriFactu module: chained hash, telematic sending to the AEAT and secure storage

Frequently asked questions about electronic invoicing and VeriFactu

When will VeriFactu be mandatory?
Royal Decree 238/2026 establishes the mandatory nature of VeriFactu for self-employed workers and companies that issue invoices in Spanish territory. The date of entry into force depends on the volume of billing, but it is expected to be mandatory for most companies throughout 2026 and 2027. It is advisable to anticipate and have the system prepared in advance.
What changes with VeriFactu compared to current billing?
VeriFactu requires that the billing software generate an unalterable record of each invoice issued and communicate it to the Tax Agency automatically or on demand. This implies that the program must guarantee the integrity, traceability and conservation of the records, preventing the alteration or deletion of invoices once they have been issued.
Is Odoo ready to comply with VeriFactu?
Yes. Odoo has built support for VeriFactu natively in its billing module. This includes the generation of the chained hash of invoices, the electronic sending to the AEAT and the secure storage of the records in accordance with the regulations. IBERSYA is in charge of configuring and validating the system for your company.
Can it be migrated from another billing program?
Yes. IBERSYA performs complete migrations from programs such as Contaplus, Sage, A3, Holded or any other system. We import invoice history, customer and supplier data, pending balances and fiscal configuration, verifying the integrity of the data before start-up.
