VeriFactu deadlines and obligations

The VeriFactu regulation (RD 1007/2023, developed by Order HAC/2026) requires all invoicing software to generate tamper-proof records with chained hashing and report them to the AEAT. Although the effective date has been delayed to July 2027, software vendors must be certified before that date and companies need time to migrate, test and train their teams. Preparing now avoids last-minute rushes and potential fines of up to 50,000 euros for using non-compliant software.

  • Mandatory for all self-employed workers and companies issuing invoices in Spanish territory
  • July 2027 deadline: software must generate electronically signed records and report them to the tax authority
  • Fines of up to 50,000 euros per fiscal year for using non-certified software
  • Odoo already includes the native VeriFactu module: chained hashing, electronic submission to AEAT and secure storage

Frequently asked questions about electronic invoicing and VeriFactu

When will VeriFactu be mandatory?
Royal Decree 238/2026 establishes VeriFactu as mandatory for self-employed workers and companies issuing invoices in Spanish territory. The effective date depends on billing volume, but it is expected to be mandatory for most businesses throughout 2026 and 2027. It is advisable to prepare in advance and have the system ready ahead of time.
What changes with VeriFactu compared to current invoicing?
VeriFactu requires invoicing software to generate a tamper-proof record of each issued invoice and report it to the Tax Agency automatically or on demand. This means the software must guarantee the integrity, traceability and preservation of records, preventing alteration or deletion of invoices once issued.
Is Odoo prepared to comply with VeriFactu?
Yes. Odoo has developed VeriFactu compatibility natively in its invoicing module. This includes chained invoice hashing, electronic submission to the AEAT and secure record storage in compliance with regulations. IBERSYA handles the configuration and validation of the system for your company.
Can I migrate from another invoicing program?
Yes. IBERSYA performs complete migrations from programs like Contaplus, Sage, A3, Holded or any other system. We import the invoice history, client and supplier data, outstanding balances and fiscal configuration, verifying data integrity before going live.
